JEC Forum Italy: 50 days to go, discover the program

Organised in partnership with Assocompositi, JEC Forum ITALY will gather the main actors of the composite materials community in Italy. This edition, held at the Bologna Fiere, on June 6 and 7, 2023, is the first of what will be a rotating event in different cities of Italy, to promote the regional ecosystem of composites and enable closer connections with the local companies, research & development centres and applications sectors industries.

Less than 2 months prior to the Forum, the program of the two days is now available. It will include composites market overview, sectors focus, sustainability, and not to forget innovation, with the JEC Composites Startup Booster.

Composites Innovation in the Automotive Sector

This session will feature presentations from highly innovative automotive companies and from a research and technology organization serving companies and institutions. Participants will have the opportunity to explore topics related to product and process innovation and the production of new devices for the cars of the future. These topics will help in inspiring participants seeking new markets for their products or new solutions for their markets.

Applications of composites in the Built Environment

This session focuses on recent developments in the construction industry both at the European level with the draft new Eurocodes for composite structures and at the Italian level with the new Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport Guidelines on the use of composite reinforcing bars in reinforced concrete. The speakers are of high level and expertise, and the topics covered are of considerable importance to the built environment market. Participants will therefore have a unique opportunity to learn more about these topics from a technical and regulatory perspective.

This session will present models for the development of collaborative innovation projects in the Emilia Romagna Region and the latest advances in technologies for the production of high-performance composites without the use of autoclaves that save costs and production time. Participants will have the opportunity to learn about the Region’s research and innovation landscape and how these are aligned with the most advanced solutions developed worldwide, ensuring that there are peaks of excellence in terms of technology and product quality.

Sustainability and circularity of composite materials

Participants in this session will have the opportunity to share the knowledge and strategies of EuCIA, the European Composites Association, regarding the development and implementation of circular and sustainable composite end-of-life solutions. The different technical possibilities and actions to be taken to increase the quantities of recycled composites on the European market will be examined, as well as the new project for a European-wide Industry Alliance to make this goal a reality. Industrial cases and research trends for implementing sustainability in materials and production processes will also be presented.

The JEC Composites Startup Booster is the leading startup competition in the world of composites and advanced materials, enabling companies to find and assess innovations with a potential impact on their industry. Launched in 2017, JEC Composites Startup Booster has already fostered the emergence of 700+ innovative projects from 60+ countries, 80 finalists and 25 winners, including Arevo, Continuous Composites, CompPair, Fortify, FibreCoat and Vartega among others.

Entrepreneurs, SMEs, startups and academic spinoffs building innovative composite and advanced materials projects, based in Italy can send their application until April 16th.
